About the role

This is a unique opportunity for an experienced people and culture professional to play a key role in leading and delivering our people strategy. In this role you will be a trusted advisor to our Senior Leadership Team and will partner with leaders across our organisation to build capability and drive a high performing culture. 

Reporting to the General Manager Corporate Services, this is a generalist role working across the entire employee lifecycle. You will have two direct reports and will be responsible for leading the delivery of high-quality HR services and employment relations support. You’ll ensure that our people frameworks, policies and practices reflect our values and are aligned with our organisational goals. 

To be successful in this role, you’ll be great at building strong relationships across the organisation and comfortable moving between strategic thinking and operational delivery.

Your key responsibilities will include: 

  • Working closely with the GM Corporate Services to design and execute our people strategy aligned with our organisational goals. 
  • Partnering with our leaders to provide trusted HR advice that enables values based, people focussed decisions whilst ensuring compliance and consistency. 
  • Leading key initiatives that drive engagement, build leadership capability, organisational design, workforce planning, remuneration and performance management.  
  • Overseeing recruitment, induction and onboarding processes that set up our new team members for success. 
  • Providing leadership, coaching and support to your team members.

This role is full time, based in our Christchurch office with flexibility to work from home. 

What we’re looking for

We’re looking for someone with proven experience in human resources leadership and business partnering, who builds strong relationships and brings innovative solutions and ideas. Specifically, we’re looking for someone who has: 

  • Proven experience as a strategic business partner supporting teams and senior leaders
  • A deep understanding of NZ employment legislation, people and culture best practice and emerging trends. 
  • Experience supporting seasonal workforces including recruitment and managing staff living and working away from home. 
  • Strong understanding of operational processes and a track record of delivering positive outcomes. 
  • Ability to build strong relationships and influence at all levels 
  • Exceptional leadership, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A degree or qualification in Management, Human Resources or Organisational Psychology 

As a key pillar of our organisation if you have a background or experience in science research that would be a bonus.
