We’re looking for a People & Capability Business Partner- Hoa Pakihi Tautāwhi Kaimahi to join our high-performing team and work closely with leaders across the organisation. You’ll support the full employee lifecycle — from recruitment through to performance, change, and transitions — playing a hands-on role in helping our people and teams succeed.
This is a truly embedded role where you’ll combine strategic thinking with practical, down-to-earth support to make a real difference every day.
Our P&C team is looking for a new colleague to work alongside, someone who is engaged and an active team player in our activities, comfortable guiding leaders and enthusiastic about finding ways to make things simpler, faster, smarter and easier for our kaimahi.
In this role, you will:
• Partner with people leaders to provide trusted, practical, and strategic advice on a wide range of people matters.
• Support leaders and employees through complex situations, including performance concerns and formal processes.
• Help teams plan for the future by supporting learning, development, and leadership capability.
• Translate our policies, guide and support leaders on their use in the work environment.
• Support organisational change, helping to keep people informed, engaged, and supported along the way.
• Lead and deliver people-focused projects and initiatives that help make Council an even better place to work.

• You’re a seasoned HR professional and know how to support people leaders with everyday people matters.
• You’re someone who builds trust to give good, fair advice, especially when things are tricky.
• You’re confident having tough conversations and can guide others through them.
• You understand how pay, roles, and policies work and can explain the why clearly to others.
• You enjoy helping others grow and have experience supporting training or development.
• You’re organised, a clear communicator, and understand how to enable an inclusive
• You’re proactive, values-driven, and want to make a positive difference where you work.
