Te Taiwhenua o Heretaunga is seeking a dedicated and empathetic Peer Support Worker to join our integrated Kaupapa Māori Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD) team within the Hawkes Bay Regional Prison. This is a unique opportunity to make a tangible difference in the lives of individuals and whānau engaged in recovery programmes within a prison setting, playing a key role in supporting their wellness and rehabilitation journey.
The Role
As a Peer Support Worker, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality, culturally responsive AOD assessment and treatment services. You will work directly with clients in AOD Services, supporting them to navigate their recovery while drawing on your lived experience and understanding of the challenges they face.
You will work alongside our Addictions Practitioners in the delivery of our group sessions and contribute to the development of the recovery plans. You will also help develop and review of Aftercare plans, supporting Tane to reintegrate successfully into the community.
