We have a permanent role for an experienced and qualified peer support worker to work within our Peer Support Service.

You will use your excellent relationship skills, resilience and flexibility to provide community-based support to people across West Auckland. Using your own personal lived experience of mental distress and/or addiction challenges and recovery, you will support people to achieve positive goals in their lives.

This is a full-time role working Monday to Friday  8:30am-5pm. Hourly rate for the role is $24 per hour to $29.94 per hour.

 We would welcome applications from people who have: 

  • Their own lived experience of utilising mental health and/or addiction services.
  • A NZ Certificate in Health and Wellbeing Level 4 (Mental Health and Addictions) or Certificate in Peer Support (Mental Health, Level 4) or equivalent qualification.
  • A proven ability to work effectively with peers from various cultures, especially Maori and Pasifika.
  • A positive and professional attitude. 
  • An ability to role model how to move forward in a journey to wellbeing.
  • Good computer and record keeping skills.  
  • Familiarity with the West Auckland community.  
  • Excellent communication, relationship and advocacy skills.  
  • Creativity, enthusiasm and persistence.  
  • A mature, empathetic personality, and a sense of humour.  
  • A full, clean, NZ driver's licence.

Skills & Experience
