Male Support Services Waikato is a survivor driven; Charitable Trust based in Hamilton. The Trust is regarded as a taonga to our men providing support for males of all ages and ethnicity who have been victims of sexual, physical, mental, emotional or domestic harm.

Working alongside our professionals who have a passion in this field, we now have an opportunity for another peer worker to join our team.  This role is a pivotal part of the organisation responsible for the follow up and engagement of referrals, assessment of needs and contributing to the delivery of outcomes. Although this is a part time position, working 24 hours per week, you will need to be flexible and work with clients to meet their needs.

To be successful in this position, ideally you will have: 

  • 5+ years, relevant experience, be a registered social worker and have an understanding and appreciation of Intentional Peer Support principles and practice.
  • An interest in, and empathy for, the care of people who have suffered sexual, physical, mental, emotional, or domestic harm with demonstrable services experience within the social services and/or sexual violence sector.
  • Good oral and written communication skills with demonstrable experience in report and/or submission writing would be an advantage 
  • An effective problem solver with excellent collaborative and relationship management skills
  • Good planning and organisational skills
  • Effective public presentation skills
  • Computer literate in all MS systems with knowledge of case management systems
  • Good knowledge of local networks and resources
