Mō Tēnei Tūranga Mahi – About the Role 

We are looking for a meticulous and enthusiastic individual who can work autonomously and has a high work ethic to join our team. Working within the payroll system, you will maintain it to ensure it meets the needs of the business. You will ensure kaimahi (employees) are paid in accordance with their employment arrangements and legislation, proactively seek ways to improve payroll processing, and provide professional, timely, and accurate reporting.

You will provide responsive and focused payroll processing and information services and will maintain information, process end to end pays, undertake regular financial reporting (PAYE and reconciliations), and provide support and advice to kaimahi regarding their pay and the use of the employee self-service system. 

The role is based on the Manawatū campus in Palmerston North and reports to a national Payroll and Assurance Lead (based in Auckland). Support is provided both remotely and locally, to ensure your success.

We are open to remote applications for the right type of candidate and while the role is full-time we will consider part-time options.

Ngā Pūkenga Me Ngā Wheako - Skills/Experience

We welcome your application if you have:

· Experience as a Payroll professional (4+ years’ experience), preferably in a complex environment with various compliance and reporting requirements

· Working knowledge of relevant NZ Employment, Income Tax, and Holidays Act Legislation and compliance requirements 

· Experience in interpretation and application of collective employment agreements 

· High level of computer literacy, a keen eye for detail, and high level of accuracy 

· Excellent data entry skills including knowledge and skills using databases, spreadsheets, and reporting tools. 

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills

UCOL | Te Pukenga works with the MYOB product, PayGlobal. We serve approximately 450 kaimahi, across the Wairarapa, Manawatū , Horowhenua and Whanganui regions. The majority of our kaimahi are salaried, paid fortnightly.
