Tēnei Tūranga Mahi | About the Role  

Our Centre of Health and Social Practice delivers health professional programs in nursing, midwifery, physiotherapy, counselling, social work and primary health care.  If you value working collaboratively and have the expertise and experience to teach counselling theory and skills, we are keen to hear from you.  Due to the resignation of a staff member, we have a full-time permanent position available within our social practice teaching team. 

 He kōrero mōu| About you  

To be eligible for consideration, you will:  

  • Hold a masters or enrolled on masters in counselling or psychology 
  • Have sufficient knowledge to teach counselling approaches including Pōwhiri Poutama, Narrative Therapy, CBT and/or PCT and  Te Tiriti o Waitangi informed and based counselling practice.
  • Have a competent application of mātauranga Māori knowledge and worldviews in the health and well-being sector. 
  • Excellent leadership skills and qualitiies. 

Ideally, you will also: 

  • Hold a tertiary teaching qualification 
  • Have experience in the counselling field of health care, mental health and addictions, or social practice 
  • Be able to teach and support ākonga/students in a manner that honours Te Tiriti o Waitangi  
  • Be able to teach face-to-face and on-line, moderation and assessment 
  • Be active in research, scholarship and/or critical reflective research 
  • Possess a valid permit to live and work in New Zealand
