Mō te Tūranga | About the Role

We’re seeking an inspiring Pacific Peoples Strategy Lead to champion equity, wellbeing and opportunity for Pacific peoples across our organisation and the communities we serve. This is a rare chance to lead with purpose, influence strategy, and drive meaningful, culturally grounded change.

You’ll design, lead and deliver the Southern Cross Healthcare (SCHL) Pacific Peoples National Strategy, rolling it out across our hospitals and network to ensure culturally safe, high-quality care for Pacific patients and an inclusive workplace for Pacific employees. Bring the Strategy’s three pou - workforce, partnership and collaboration, and service delivery — to life by strengthening Pacific capability and cultural safety.

This includes leading the national education framework, expanding Pacific training for all staff, and applying a Pacific lens to policies and governance to remove bias and unlock opportunities. You’ll shape how we attract, develop and retain Pacific talent through early-career pathways and workforce development programmes that foster progression and belonging. Highly visible and influential, you’ll build trusted partnerships with Pacific communities, providers and leaders, establish a Pacific Advisory Group, support local health groups, and co-design services with Pacific partners. You’ll elevate SCHL’s profile through authentic engagement and work with funders like Health NZ and ACC to improve access. By leading Pacific patient journey improvements and scaling what works, you’ll deliver real, system-wide change with lasting impact. This is a full-time 12-month fixed term role based in our Auckland CBD National Support office delivering the roll out of our strategy.
