 Napier Port, located in Hawke’s Bay, is New Zealand’s fourth-largest port, providing a range of marine, handling, and logistical services. Our Assets & Infrastructure Team plays a vital role in maintaining operational excellence, and we’re now looking to strengthen our internal supply chain with a hands-on, detail-oriented Procurement Technician.

This is a great opportunity for someone with a background in mechanical trades, parts coordination, or logistics who’s ready to step into a procurement-focused role. You’ll play a key role in keeping our operations running smoothly by ensuring parts, materials, and services are available when needed to support safe and efficient operations.

Reporting to the Technical Operations Manager, you’ll contribute to improving parts availability, reducing downtime, and delivering value through smart procurement decisions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage day-to-day procurement and goods receival 
  • Support procurement of parts, materials, consumables, and services 
  • Ensure inventory availability to support maintenance and operations 
  • Coordinate freight, logistics, and delivery requirements 
  • Monitor inventory and support stock optimisation and reporting 
  • Work collaboratively with teams across the port to meet operational needs 
  • Maintain supplier and service provider relationships 
  • Promote a “One Team” culture and contribute to health and safety initiatives 
  • Use data and systems to support efficient, cost-effective supply chain outcomes 
  • Support sustainable and ethical procurement practices

We’re looking for someone who has:

  • Experience in parts management, mechanical servicing, or technical logistics
  • Understanding of supply chain or inventory management principles
  • Strong attention to detail and time management
  • Good communication and ability to work across teams
  • A proactive, solutions-focused approach
  • Familiarity with procurement processes or a willingness to learn
  • Experience with compliance and governance is a bonus
