At Napier Port, the Assets & Infrastructure team is integral to maintaining our operational readiness, resilience, and reliability. To strengthen this, we’re seeking a Procurement Specialist to lead procurement initiatives that align with our commitment to ethical practices, value delivery, and technical excellence.

Reporting to the Technical Operations Manager and working cross-functionally across multiple business units, this role ensures the sourcing of parts, equipment, and services delivers long-term value, supports continuity, and drives continual improvement across the supply chain.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Sourcing & Cost Optimisation: Analyse supply chains, market conditions, and cost structures to inform procurement decisions that maximise value and reduce risk.
  • Operational Procurement Execution: Manage day-to-day procurement activity, including ordering, receiving, and supplier coordination to support critical technical and operational functions.
  • Supplier Management & Governance: Oversee supplier onboarding, performance monitoring, and relationship management, ensuring alignment with contract terms and service level expectations.
  • Procurement Planning & Inventory Coordination: Collaborate with operations and inventory users to forecast needs and support stock availability for critical equipment and assets.
  • Ethical and Sustainable Procurement: Champion responsible procurement practices in line with corporate sustainability goals and industry standards.
  • Tendering & Contract Management: Lead or support structured sourcing processes (RFPs/RFTs) and contribute to negotiation and contract execution.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify and implement process and policy enhancements to strengthen procurement controls and efficiency.
  • Health & Safety: Actively contribute to a safe working environment, embedding H&S considerations into procurement and supplier practices.
  • Team Collaboration: Foster strong internal relationships and contribute to a “One Team” culture across technical and operational groups.


What You’ll Bring

  • Demonstrated experience in procurement, supply chain, or logistics, ideally in a technical or operational setting.
  • A tertiary qualification in procurement, supply chain management, business, engineering, or a related field (preferred, not essential).
  • Strong knowledge of procurement best practices, contract management, and supplier governance frameworks.
  • Commercial acumen with the ability to analyse cost structures, negotiate effectively, and manage risk.
  • Exceptional stakeholder engagement skills, with a focus on collaboration and value delivery.
  • A high level of initiative, attention to detail, and a mindset focused on continuous improvement and innovation.
  • Familiarity with procurement systems, ERP platforms, and data-driven decision-making.
