Optometrist Opportunities – South Island, New Zealand

Considering a move to the South Island of New Zealand? Or looking for your next career opportunity closer to home?

OCULA Group is building a network of qualified optometrists interested as we have opportunities in the South Island.

Whether you are actively looking for a new role, considering a lifestyle change, or simply curious about future opportunities, we would love to start a conversation.

About the Opportunity

We are not recruiting for one specific position. We are connecting with optometrists who may be interested in joining one of our South Island practices over the coming months.

OCULA Group is a growing independent optometry group with practices throughout New Zealand and plans for continued expansion.

By starting conversations early, we can better understand what you are looking for and connect you with the right opportunity when it becomes available.

Why the South Island?

The South Island offers an exceptional combination of professional opportunity and lifestyle.

Depending on the location, you could enjoy:

  • Shorter commutes and a relaxed pace of life
  • Easy access to mountains, lakes, beaches and outdoor activities
  • Welcoming local communities
  • A strong focus on work-life balance
  • The opportunity to build meaningful, long-term relationships with patients

Relocation assistance may be available for suitable candidates moving within New Zealand or internationally.

For international optometrists, we can also provide guidance around New Zealand registration pathways, visas and relocation.

About OCULA Group

OCULA Group is a modern, patient-focused optometry group with a strong reputation for clinical excellence, personalised care and an exceptional customer experience.

Our optometrists are supported by an experienced central team, allowing them to focus on delivering high-quality clinical care while still benefiting from the resources, professional development and collaboration of a wider group.

We value clinical autonomy, strong patient relationships and creating workplaces where talented people can build rewarding, long-term careers.

Who We Would Love to Hear From

We would welcome a conversation with anyone who is:

  • A qualified optometrist
  • Interested in living and working in the South Island
  • Open to exploring opportunities now or within the next 1-6 months
  • Passionate about patient-centred care and positive clinical outcomes

What Happens Next?

If you are open to a conversation, we will:

  • Learn more about your preferred location, working arrangements and timing
  • Discuss the types of opportunities you are interested in
  • Keep you informed about relevant South Island roles
  • Contact you when an opportunity aligns with what you are looking for

There is no pressure or obligation. This is simply an opportunity to connect and explore what your future with OCULA Group could look like.
