 Optometrist – Fixed Term (Maternity Cover)
OCULA Merivale
Contract: 4 July 2026 – March 2027

We are seeking a passionate and patient-focused Optometrist to join our team at OCULA Merivale on a fixed-term basis to cover maternity leave. About the Role
You will be responsible for providing comprehensive eye examinations, contact lens fittings, and tailored vision solutions, while maintaining the highest standards of clinical care and customer service. Working Arrangements

  • Fixed-term position from 4 July 2026 to March 2027
  • 32–39 hours per week
  • Includes includes Saturdays
  • Possibility to extend or transition into a permanent position at the end of the fixed term, for candidates open to travel or relocation to other locations

Skills & Experience

  •  Strong clinical skills across general optometry and patient care 
  • Bachelor of Optometry from Auckland university or equivalent 
  • Confident in routine and some complex eye examinations 
  • Excellent communication skills with a patient-first approach 
  • Ability to work collaboratively with optometrists, dispensing opticians, and optical assistants 
  • Interest in developing skills in areas like myopia control, dry eye, or contact lenses
