OCULA Queenstown is looking for a passionate and experienced Optometrist to join our established boutique practice, based in the beautiful village of Arrowtown, in a permanent full-time role.

This is more than an opportunity to join a great optometry practice. It is an opportunity to build a rewarding career with OCULA, while living in one of New Zealand’s most sought-after destinations.

At OCULA Queenstown, we combine exceptional clinical care, modern optometry, genuine patient relationships and a carefully curated designer eyewear experience. We give our Optometrists the time, autonomy and support to practise great optometry and make a real difference to their patients.

Dreaming of a lifestyle change, this could be the opportunity you've been waiting for.

About the Role

As an Optometrist at OCULA Queenstown, you will have the opportunity to provide high-quality, patient-centred eye care while becoming a valued part of the Arrowtown community.

You will build meaningful, long-term relationships with patients and have the professional freedom to provide care based on your clinical judgement and expertise.

You will have access to modern clinical technology and the wider expertise of the OCULA group.

Your role will include:

  • Conducting comprehensive eye examinations and detailed eye-health assessments
  • Providing considered, evidence-based clinical advice
  • Managing ongoing patient care and developing long-term patient relationships
  • Identifying and managing ocular pathology and broader eye-health needs
  • Working collaboratively with our experienced clinical team
  • Providing an exceptional, personal patient experience
  • Developing areas of clinical interest with support from OCULA
  • Contributing to the continued success and growth of the practice

What You'll Bring

You will be a confident, caring and clinically capable Optometrist who takes pride in delivering an exceptional standard of care.

You will bring:

  • A recognised optometry qualification
  • Current registration with the Optometrists and Dispensing Opticians Board of New Zealand and a current Annual Practising Certificate, or eligibility to obtain these before commencing
  • Strong clinical skills across general and advanced optometry
  • Excellent clinical judgement and attention to detail
  • A genuine commitment to patient-centred care and long-term outcomes
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • A collaborative approach and commitment to being part of a great team
  • A desire to continue learning and developing professionally
  • A genuine interest in building relationships within the local community

Most importantly, you'll be someone who cares about people as much as you care about eyes.

What You'll Receive

At OCULA, we believe great Optometrists deserve to be supported, trusted and rewarded.

You'll receive:

  • Competitive salary
  • Relocation assistance for the right candidate
  • Medical insurance
  • Day off on your birthday
  • Ongoing professional development
  • Genuine clinical autonomy
  • A permanent, stable position with an established practice
  • The opportunity to build meaningful, long-term patient relationships
  • A highly supportive and collaborative team
  • Access to the wider OCULA clinical and professional network
  • A workplace where your expertise and professional opinion are genuinely valued

Why OCULA?

OCULA is not simply about providing an eye examination or selling eyewear.

We believe exceptional optometry comes from combining clinical expertise, time, care and genuine human connection.

Our practices bring together advanced eye care, expert optometry and a distinctive designer eyewear experience. We take the time to understand our patients — their vision, their eye health, their lifestyle and what matters to them.

As an Optometrist at OCULA, you won't be expected to simply work through appointments.

We are growing, but we are determined to retain what makes OCULA special — great people, great clinical care and an exceptional experience for every patient.

Why Arrowtown?

Picture finishing work and being minutes from world-class mountain biking, hiking, skiing, golf, rivers and lakes.

Spend a summer evening walking along the Arrow River. Head into Queenstown for dinner. Take a mountain bike out after work. Ski in winter. Explore the trails on the weekend.
