Operations Manager
Bidfood Waipapa is looking for an experienced, driven, and people-focused Operations Manager to lead our warehouse, dispatch, and distribution operations.

Working closely with the General Manager and HOD team, you'll be responsible for ensuring our operation runs safely, efficiently, and consistently delivers outstanding service to our customers.
About the Role
As Operations Manager, you will oversee all warehouse and distribution activities across the branch 24/6. Your focus will be on leading teams, improving systems and processes, driving operational performance, and ensuring our customers receive the high level of service Bidfood is known for.
This is a hands-on leadership position that requires strong operational knowledge, excellent people leadership skills, and the ability to balance customer expectations with operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Leadership
- Lead and oversee warehouse, dispatch, and distribution operations.
- Drive a culture of continuous improvement across all operational functions.
- Develop and improve systems, reporting, and processes to increase efficiency and accuracy.
- Monitor and manage operational performance through key performance indicators.
- Ensure resources, equipment, and staffing levels support business requirements.
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, coach, and develop warehouse, dispatch, and supervisory teams.
- Foster a positive, accountable, and high-performance culture.
- Support recruitment, onboarding, training, and succession planning.
- Conduct regular performance reviews and development discussions.
- Empower department leaders to achieve exceptional standards of professionalism and customer service.
Customer Service & Distribution Excellence
- Ensure customer orders are picked, loaded, and delivered accurately and on time.
- Review delivery runs and logistics performance to maximise efficiency while maintaining service standards.
- Work closely with sales, procurement, and administration teams to achieve branch objectives.
- Drive operational decisions that improve customer satisfaction and business outcomes.
Health, Safety & Food Safety
- Champion a strong health and safety culture across all operations.
- Ensure compliance with all company health and safety requirements.
- Lead food safety standards and continuous compliance initiatives.
- Maintain safe, compliant, and efficient facilities, equipment, and fleet operations.
About You
The successful candidate will have:
- Proven leadership experience in warehousing, logistics, transport, distribution, or supply chain operations.
- Strong experience managing teams and developing people.
- A track record of improving operational performance and implementing change.
- Excellent planning, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- Confidence working with operational systems, reporting, and performance metrics.
- A practical, hands-on approach with the ability to lead from the front.
- A commitment to health, safety, food safety, and operational excellence.
- The ability to remain calm, decisive, and solutions-focused in a fast-moving environment.
