Operations Manager – Electrical, Solar & HVAC
Bo & Co Electrical is a growing Cambridge-based business providing electrical, solar and HVAC services to residential and commercial customers throughout the Waikato.
We're looking for an experienced NZ-registered electrician with strong leadership skills who's ready to take ownership of the day-to-day operation and play a key role in the next stage of the business.
This isn't simply a senior electrician position. You'll work directly with the business owner, lead the field team, drive operational performance, and have a genuine say in how the business develops.
About the Role
As Operations Manager, you'll lead our electricians, apprentices, technicians and subcontractors, overseeing the day-to-day delivery of electrical, solar and HVAC work.
You'll be responsible for keeping people, jobs and resources organised, ensuring work is delivered efficiently, profitably and to a high standard.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading, supporting and developing the field team
- Scheduling jobs and allocating people and resources
- Monitoring job progress, labour, costs and margins
- Keeping projects on track and resolving issues as they arise
- Mentoring electricians and apprentices and managing team performance
- Providing technical guidance and troubleshooting support
- Supporting residential and commercial quoting
- Overseeing job documentation, purchasing and materials
- Building strong relationships with customers, suppliers and subcontractors
- Maintaining electrical compliance and high Health & Safety standards
- Conducting site inspections and safety audits
- Improving systems, processes and operational efficiencies
- Working alongside the owner to support the continued growth of the business
About You
We're looking for someone with the technical credibility to lead an electrical team and the people skills to bring out the best in those around them.
You'll be approachable and fair, but confident making decisions, setting expectations and having the harder conversations when needed.
You're someone who takes ownership, stays calm under pressure, and keeps the operation moving when priorities change.
You'll bring:
- Current NZ Registered Electrician status and practising licence
- At least two years' post-registration electrical experience
- At least one year's experience leading or supervising a team
- Strong knowledge of NZ electrical regulations and standards
- Sound organisational, planning and job-management skills
- An understanding of job costs, budgets and margins
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- A practical, proactive and solutions-focused approach
- Full, clean NZ Driver Licence
Experience with solar PV, inverters, battery storage, HVAC or job-management systems such as SimPRO, Fergus or similar would be an advantage, but isn't essential.
