Operations Manager – Electrical, Solar & HVAC
Bo & Co Electrical is a growing Cambridge-based business providing high-quality electrical, solar and HVAC services across residential and commercial customers throughout the Waikato.
We’re looking for an experienced NZ-registered electrician ready to step into a genuine operational leadership role.
This isn’t simply a senior electrician position. You’ll work closely with the business owner and take responsibility for the day-to-day performance of our field operation – leading the team, coordinating work, keeping jobs on track and ensuring we continue delivering great work for our customers.
About the Role
As Operations Manager, you’ll lead our electricians, apprentices, technicians and subcontractors while overseeing jobbing and service work from initial handover through to completion.
Your day could involve:
- Leading, supporting and developing the field team
- Scheduling jobs and allocating people and resources
- Monitoring job progress, labour, costs and margins
- Keeping projects on schedule and addressing issues before they become problems
- Supporting and mentoring electricians and apprentices
- Managing performance and helping develop capability within the team
- Providing technical guidance and troubleshooting support
- Assisting with residential and commercial quoting
- Managing job documentation, purchasing and materials
- Maintaining strong relationships with customers, suppliers and other stakeholders
- Ensuring electrical compliance and high Health & Safety standards
- Conducting site inspections and safety audits
- Improving systems, processes and ways of working across the business
- Supporting the continued growth of our electrical, solar and HVAC services
About You
Technical credibility is important, but how you lead people is just as important to us.
You’ll be someone who can build relationships with a team, communicate clearly, have the harder conversations when necessary and help people develop and perform at their best.
You’ll also be comfortable taking ownership. When the day changes, a job runs over, a customer needs something urgently or the team needs direction, you’re someone who can make a decision and keep things moving.
You'll need:
- Current NZ Registered Electrician status and practising licence
- At least two years' post-registration electrical experience
- At least one year's experience leading or supervising a team
- Strong knowledge of NZ electrical regulations and standards
- Good organisational and job-management skills
- An understanding of job costs, budgets and margins
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- A practical, proactive and solutions-focused approach
- Full, clean NZ Driver Licence
Experience with solar PV, inverters, battery storage, HVAC or job-management systems such as SimPRO, Fergus or similar would be an advantage, but isn't essential.
