Mō mātou: About us
We are guided by our kaupapa “Me tiaki, kia ora!” We must protect the environment so all life flourishes. We connect people with animals, help save wildlife and wild places, and ensure we’re a voice to be heard. We’ve been an integral part of Wellington for 120 years and are proud to be a progressive, positive, animal welfare-accredited zoo.
Te Nukuao Wellington Zoo is committed to accepting, valuing, and embracing the diversity of all people.

Please note you will not have any hands-on animal contact.
A number of tasks are strenuous and dirty, and in cold conditions, and you can be on your feet a lot of the time. An idea of the things you might be asked to do includes:
Volunteers are only required during the usual working week: Monday to Friday. The earliest you would start is 9:30 am, and the latest finish time is 4:30 pm.
