Mō Tēnei Tūranga Mahi | About the Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a permanent full time Nursing Lecturer at our Hawkes Bay campus. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching various subjects within the Diploma of Enrolled Nursing, Bachelor of Nursing, and Postgraduate Programs. Additionally, they will contribute to curriculum development, create course materials, and help enhance teaching and learning in the online environment. Professional development opportunities will also be encouraged.

For the first 12 months this role will take on the responsibilities of Programme Coordinator for Diploma of Enrolled Nursing and will be reviewed on an annual basis with the Head of School. The Programme Coordinator include:

  • Monitoring the delivery of programme(s) in line with academic documents, institutional policy and compliance requirements of government agencies and registration bodies.
  • Providing academic counselling and advice to students and graduates.
  • Providing and monitoring pastoral care of students across the programme(s).
  • Overseeing the administration of all programmes related processes and resources including class lists, timetables, withdrawals and electives.
  • Ensuring programme information and/or student information is accessible and up to date within EIT systems including, Revive, APlus, EIT Online, SWAT and the Central Programme Repository. 

The position of Nursing Lecturer reports to the Head of School, Nursing and will be responsible for:

  • Prepare, update and continually develop appropriate curriculums for all courses and implementation of new courses in line with Academic Board requirements.
  • Provide clearly defined learning objectives and learning outcomes.
  • Regularly review and revise subject matter, teaching content and process relative to changing environments.
  • Effectively facilitate the learning process through a wide variety of experiences and activities by encouraging students to participate in and accept responsibility for their own learning.
  • Provide relevant practical learning experiences.
  • Undertake effective, valid, and reliable evaluation of students and courses.
  • Assess the performance of students and give appropriate feedback.
  • Monitor and review assessment and evaluation processes in line with academic regulations.

He kōrero mōu| About you

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Registered Nurse Prescriber or Nurse Practitioner with a Nursing Council of New Zealand current annual practicing certificate, required. 
  • Worked in NZ for 2+ years as a registered nurse, required.
  • Master of Nursing (or equivalent postgraduate qualification), required. 
  • PhD or working towards a PhD, desirable. 
  • A wide range and up-to-date nursing practice experiences
  • Knowledge of the Nursing Council of New Zealand requirements for the Registered Nurse Scope of Practice
  • Sound knowledge and application of Te Tiriti o Waitangi teaching
  • An understanding of Kawa Whakaruruhau and current approaches to cultural safety in the delivery of learning
