Nursing Lecturer

The Nursing Lecturer is a permanent, part-time 0.7 FTE position based in Hawke's Bay and plays an important role in delivering high-quality nursing education within the Bachelor of Nursing programme. Working closely with students, academic colleagues, healthcare providers, and industry stakeholders, this role supports student success through teaching, curriculum development, assessment, and innovative learning experiences that prepare graduates for professional nursing practice.
The appointing salary for this role will be dependent on skills and experience.
The Nursing Lecturer reports to the Assistant Head of School/Practicum Manager - Nursing and will be responsible for:
- Teaching and facilitating learning across undergraduate nursing courses.
- Developing and delivering learning objectives, lesson plans, and course content.
- Creating engaging face-to-face, practical, and online learning experiences.
- Supporting students to develop critical thinking and independent learning skills.
- Providing academic guidance, mentoring, and pastoral support to students.
- Developing, moderating, and evaluating assessments to ensure academic quality.
- Participating in curriculum review, course development, and programme enhancement.
- Building and maintaining relationships with healthcare providers and clinical partners.
- Maintaining accurate student, assessment, and course records.
- Contributing to the promotion and growth of nursing programmes within the community.

To be successful in this role you will have:
- Current registration as a Registered Nurse with a current Nursing Council of New Zealand practising certificate.
- A Bachelor of Nursing qualification.
- A postgraduate nursing qualification or a commitment to working towards one.
- Recent and relevant nursing practice experience.
- Knowledge of Mātauranga Māori and a commitment to culturally responsive practice.
- Understanding of cultural safety and the ability to create inclusive learning environments.
- Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
- Well-developed organisational, planning, and time management skills.
- Strong digital literacy and confidence using learning technologies.
- The ability to build positive relationships with students, colleagues, and healthcare stakeholders.
