Nursery Head Teacher (BestStart Pinnacles)
We are looking for a passionate and experienced Head Teacher to lead our Nursery at BestStart Pinnacles – a high-quality early learning centre nestled in the heart of Wānaka, one of Aotearoa’s most desirable lifestyle destinations.

About the role:
You’ll lead a dedicated, collaborative team in our infant room, guiding teaching and learning that reflects the values of Te Whāriki. You’ll play a central role in creating a culturally responsive curriculum that supports our tamariki to thrive.
This is a permanent, full-time role (40 hours per week, Monday to Friday).
As Head Teacher, you will:
- Champion our centre’s philosophy, values and vision
- Build strong, respectful relationships with tamariki, whānau and kaiako
- Support high-quality planning, assessment and curriculum delivery
- Lead coaching and mentoring within the Professional Growth Cycle
- Maintain compliance and create a safe, inspiring environment
- Be a positive role model and strong advocate for equitable outcomes
What you’ll bring:
- A qualified, fully certificated ECE teacher
- At least 2 years’ experience working with infants or young children
- Strong knowledge of curriculum, Te Whāriki, and the Person Responsible role
- Leadership skills and a passion for mentoring others
- An inclusive, culturally responsive teaching style
- Excellent communication and organisational abilities
- A reflective, motivated and resilient approach
