Network Engineer

The Networking Engineer is a permanent, full-time role and responsible for all network services across Cloud and on‑premise environments. This role ensures EIT makes the best possible use of modern networking technologies to connect staff, ākonga, and systems both on campus and remotely. With significant collaboration across internal teams and a wide range of external suppliers, this role ensures our network is robust, secure, high‑performing, and future‑focused.
The appointing salary for this role will be negotiable, depending on skills and experience.
The Networking Engineer is based in our EIT Digital Team reporting to the Systems Delivery Manager, and will be responsible for:
- Leading the design and delivery of all network infrastructure and connectivity across Cloud, Internet, and on‑premise environments.
- Maintaining deep expertise in networking, including design, security, performance, WAN, LAN, Wi-Fi, firewalls, and Cloud connectivity.
- Collaborating extensively with external support/service providers to progress the network into a vendor-supported “as-a-service” model.
- Providing secondary leadership across Cloud platforms such as Azure, Messaging, and Identity.
- Participating in an on‑call roster for after-hours technical support.

To be successful in this role you will have:
- Degree qualification or equivalent relevant experience.
- At least five years’ experience in 2nd/3rd level networking roles.
- CCNP-level knowledge (preferably CCIE-level) across networking technologies.
- Demonstrated experience in network design, implementation, troubleshooting and migration.
- Experience with vendor management toolsets (e.g., ATMF, HP IMC), Azure Connect, and datacentre networking.
- Proven track record in developing roadmaps, managing Statements of Work, and collaborating with application teams.
