The Ngā Tini Whetu service supports whānau in crisis.  Particularly hapu māmā or māmā with pēpi (under 3 years).  The service works holistically to support the whole whānau, acknowledging the importance of a safe, healthy and nurturing environment for whānau to flourish. 

About Us 

Te Taiwhenua o Heretaunga (TToH) is a whānau-focused, Iwi mandated, kaupapa Māori health and social services organisation. We have been supporting our whānau me hapori to achieve their aspirations and general wellbeing for more than 39 years.  Underpinning our success as an organisation are our values: Kotahitanga, Whakamana, Kaitiakitanga and Whanaungataunga, which are woven through everything we do. 

The successful applicant will have experience in working with families in challenging situations, and the ability to work with partner agencies such Oranga Tamariki and ACC and other services to provide a multi-faceted support system to lift the whānau into a sustainable position of wellbeing and stability.

The Role:

  • Being a welcoming presence to awhi the whānau coming into our service 
  • Sourcing the solutions to their immediate needs
  • Safety Assessments and future goals
  • Warm handovers of whānau to supports or community services
  • Follow up with whānau to ensure their needs are met and goals are achieved 
  • Empowering whānau to take the lead with their future aspirations
  • Creating and maintaining relationships with whānau, work colleagues and partner agencies
  • Maintaining clear professional boundaries

Suitable candidates will have:

  • A tertiary qualification in Health and Wellbeing or Social Services 
  • Experience working in the community with whānau in tough situations with multiple challenges.
  • Experienced working with whānau particularly māmā and pēpi
  • Experience writing case notes and monthly reports
  • Knowledge of Te Reo Māori me ona Tikanga Māori
  • Full Drivers license

You must be non-judgmental and able to connect with people from all walks of life, including whānau facing a wide range of complex situations. The role requires assertiveness balanced with empathy and compassion, along with the ability to navigate conflict and crisis calmly and effectively.
