For over 150 years we have been protecting animals who are sick, injured, neglected, abused, or abandoned. Our 30 animal centres across Aotearoa New Zealand offer sanctuary to animals in distress whilst we work tirelessly to find their forever homes. We are the only charity with the power to protect all animals including prosecuting people under the Animal Welfare Act 1999, we work hard to bring justice and uphold the laws relating to the treatment of animals.

About the role:

As our National Human Resource Advisor, you’ll play a crucial role in providing confidential Human Resources advice and assistance to leaders and staff across the motu. You'll be supported by the Human Resources Manager, along with other specialist roles within the team (Health and Safety, Recruitment, and Special Projects) to help our passionate leaders promote our values, whilst shaping a positive culture that is aligned to our strategy.

This is a full time (40 hours), fixed term role for 12 months.

What do we need from you?

We are looking for a well-rounded HR Advisor who is confident with employment relations who thrives being part of a team that makes a difference to the lives of animals in our care. 

If you have the resilience and determination to align with our goals, you will bring with you the ability to build rapport quickly and communicate with people at all levels across the organisation, both in person and virtually.  Essential to us is the following:

· A genuine belief in our vision that all animal lives matter in our communities, 

· At least 5 years' NZ experience in an Human Resource role within a medium to large organisation,

· A relevant tertiary Human Resource qualification is essential,

· It’s essential that you are confident with managing in house end to end mid-level employment relations ie: performance management, disciplinaries and change management for example,  

· Proven ability to remotely partner with People Leaders to provide them with the tools and skills to proactively manage the HR requirements of their team,

· Strong knowledge of best practice HR processes and NZ employment legislation,

· Proficiency in Microsoft Office in particular Excel, Word, Teams and SharePoint,

· High levels of empathy combined with the confidence to deal with conflict resolution.
