After two years of great work, our current National Food Safety Coordinator is going travelling which creates a rare opportunity for this Food Safety role based in Ellerslie. Part of national procurement, this position supports our National Food Safety Manager, the wider procurement team, and branches across the country. It suits someone early in their career who enjoys technical detail, data accuracy, and learning how food safety works in a large, well-run business.

You will support day-to-day product data, labelling requirements, supplier information, and full compliance for our own brands. You will also play a key part in recalls, customer complaint management, and system improvements. This role sits at the centre of our food safety and quality work, and you will be trusted to manage priorities and support decision-making.

What you’ll handle

  • Managing product data, specifications, PIFs, labels, and supplier certifications
  • Supporting our Exclusive Brands to meet compliance and help with NPD projects 
  • Working closely with complaint investigations, helping identify trends and verifying the effectiveness of Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPAs)
  • Supporting recalls and being flexible when they occasionally occur outside normal hours 
  • Helping improve systems and tools that keep product information reliable

What you’ll bring

  • A tertiary qualification in Food Science or similar
  • Knowledge of the legal framework for the food industry (Food Act, Animal Act, FSANZ, MPI, Food Regulations, RMP, Food Control Plans, HACCP, etc.)
  • Good understanding of NZ labelling requirements, and a willingness to learn 
  • Exposure to QA or Food Safety in a food-related business 
  • Strong Excel skills and confidence working with real-time data
  • Strong numeracy skills
  • High-level analytical/problem-solving ability
  • An organised working style and strong attention to detail
  • Clear communication and the ability to stay steady under pressure
