National Education Lead – Development

National Support Office

Mō te Tūranga | About the Role

As the National Education Lead – Development, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of clinical excellence across Southern Cross Healthcare. Leading the strategic design, implementation, and continuous evolution of the Pathways to Excellence pillar within our Clinical Academy, you will create structured, transparent, and meaningful development pathways that recognise and reward outstanding clinical practice. This is an exciting opportunity to influence how our nurses, anaesthetic technicians, and wider clinical workforce grow, develop, and thrive within New Zealand’s largest private healthcare organisation.

In this nationally focused leadership role, you will drive key initiatives including the Professional Development Recognition Programme (PDRP), Career Progression Pathways, the SCHL Clinical Development Fund, and International Certification Programmes. Working closely with clinical leaders, educators, professional bodies, and stakeholders across the organisation, you will champion innovative, future-focused development programmes that align with our values, regulatory standards, and strategic goals — while helping to strengthen workforce capability, engagement, and retention.

You will also lead change and continuous improvement initiatives that embed a culture of lifelong learning, professional excellence, and innovation across the network. From supporting the optimisation of digital learning platforms and development tracking, to leading engagement and communication strategies that inspire participation and growth, you will have the opportunity to make a lasting impact on both our people and the future of healthcare delivery in Aotearoa New Zealand. This is a full-time  (0.8-1 FTE) permanent position preferably based in our National Support Office in the Auckland CBD.
