About us  

Southern Milk Transport (SMT) is responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of Open Country Dairy Limited milk. Open Country Dairy is the second largest global exporter of premium whole milk powders in New Zealand. Based in Whanganui on the Open Country site, our immaculate fleet and professional team collect milk from farms all around New Zealand.    

About the role 

We are now looking for a Milk Reception Technician to join our team.  This position plays an integral role in assisting with the testing and documenting of all incoming and outgoing milk and milk products. 

This is a permanent role and the expected hours of work are Monday to Friday, 8.30am – 5.00pm, with occasional shift work. 

Reporting to the Shift Supervisor, the Milk Reception Technician will have responsibility for a range of key activities in our business.

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Milk sampling
  • Maintaining stock supplies
  • Communicating with customers and drivers
  • Organising and maintaining documentation
  • Ensure CIPS are done accordingly and daily

Successful applicants will possess: 

  • Reliable and organised, solutions focussed
  • Team player who can work well with others
  • Adaptable and willing to learn
  • Able to understand and apply hygienic systems and process 
  • Excellent attention to detail especially working with numbers and data
  • Previous experience in a dairy manufacturing environment would be of value
