Te Taiwhenua o Heretaunga is a whānau-focused, Iwi mandated, kaupapa Māori health and social services organisation.
We have been supporting our whānau me hapori to achieve their aspirations and general wellbeing for almost 40 years.

About the Role 

Working alongside a Mental Health Nurse on every shift our MH Kaimanaaki provide the following essential support:

  • Provide supervision and support to whaiora in the modern, comfortable 6 bed Crisis Respite Hub 
  • Support whaiora with therapeutic engagement and daily living
  • Monitor well-being and maintain a warm, whānau focused recovery environment
  • Work with other clinical professionals, key workers and support services 

This is a 24/7 essential service with 12 hour shift rosters - day and night shifts.  
You will join our essential pool of casual MHSWs that provide cover when our permanent kaimahi are on planned and unplanned leave.
Our casual pool also provide support in our Ararau Mental Health Residential service.  
This is residential service providing 24/7 care to whānau living in the community with daily supported living. 

With the winter months apon us, we have plenty of mahi available to provide essential cover across the two services. 

Full Induction is provided before commencing shifts.

Candidates will need:

  • Level 4 Heath and Well being [Mental Health and AOD] Certificate or equivalent qualification
  • Current First Aid Certificate
  • Previous De-escalation and Trauma Informed Care training
  • Experience working with in crisis Mental Health service 
  • Be empathetic, self-aware and have the ability to build a good rapport 
  • Team player within a multi-disciplinary team environment
  • Commitment to providing excellent support with aroha and manaaki
  • A Full Driver’s Licence
