Mental Health Support Worker –Casual role
We have a great opportunity for experienced and qualified mental health support workers looking for flexible working hours to work in our residential and community support services based in West Auckland and Remuera:
Our Perinatal Mental Health Service provide support for parents and their babies in our respite facility. An understanding of perinatal mental health, early parent-child bonding and skills in parent craft and caring for infants would be advantageous.
Our Adult and Older Adult Services in West Auckland and Remuera deliver mental health support services to people living at our service or independently in the community.
Hours of work are varied and can include morning, afternoon or awake shifts across the week. You would need to be reliable, self-motivated with excellent relationship skills, resilience and flexibility. You will use your skills to support people achieving positive goals in their lives and contribute to the effective day to day running of the services.
This job could be for you if you:
· Have experience and/or qualifications in mental health (NZ Certificate in Health and Wellbeing Level 4 or other equivalent qualification) and a first aid certificate
· Are comfortable with and have experience caring for babies (for our Perinatal Respite Service)
· Want to make a lasting, positive difference in the lives of people and have an understanding and appreciation of collaborative planning using Strengths and Recovery‑Based practice
· Have the ability to work with diverse cultures.
· Are flexible, adaptable, competent, reliable, forward-thinking and a team player.
· Can demonstrate initiative and problem-solving skills.
· Are naturally encouraging and have a non-judgmental attitude.
· Can take responsibility for yourself.
· Have a passion and energy to contribute to the mental health sector.
· Have a full, current clean New Zealand driver’s licence.
