Medical Administrator – Hauora Heretaunga [Fixed Term - 6 months]

Hauora Heretaunga delivers quality, evidence-based primary care services to our population of almost 7000 patients using the Health Care Homes framework. We are a high-needs clinic, committed to improving health equity in our local community and making a difference to Māori Health.   

We are looking for a Medical Administrator to provide effective and efficient administration support for our Hauora Clinic. Every day is busy with a variety of administration tasks, from being on the phones, booking appointments to greeting whānau at our reception for the Medical and Dental teams. We are looking for someone who is keen to make sure our whānau who come into our clinic are treated with the utmost manaakitanga during their visit. 

This is a great role if you are interested in working in the fast moving, busy primary health care sector.  It is an opportunity to grow your administration skills and work alongside experienced Health Professionals in a supportive team environment.  

Key tasks include:

· Answering incoming calls 

· Capturing and recording accurate information

· Responding to enquiries - written and kanohi ki te kanohi

· Scheduling patient appointments according to the Scheduling matrix and Clinician availability

· Managing cancellations and backfilling to ensure that bookings are at capacity.

· Welcoming whānau at reception.

This is a full time, fixed term position while our kaimahi is on parental leave. The hours are Monday to Friday 8.30am to 5.00pm [40 hours].

Ideal candidates will have:

· a warm, welcoming personality with great people skills

· an understanding of tikanga Māori – whānaungataunga, whakamana

· previous medical administration experience is an advantage, ideally in Indici or similar system

· a can-do attitude, flexibility and willingness to go the extra mile

· professionalism in all aspects of mahi from personal presentation to practice

· high standards of respect for client privacy and confidentiality

· a current, Full Driver’s License
