The appointing salary for this role will be between $77,500 and $96,800, dependent on skills and experience.
The Academic Staff Member - Mechanical Engineering - is based in our Rotokauri Campus, reporting to the Team Manager and will be responsible for:
Curriculum Assistance:
· Collaborate with faculty to align tutoring sessions with course objectives.
· Develop supplementary materials such as practice problems and study guides.
· Review and reinforce lecture materials to enhance student comprehension.
Student Engagement:
· Foster a positive, inclusive learning environment.
· Identify and address individual student learning needs and challenges.
· Provide constructive feedback to help students improve their academic performance.
Administrative Duties:
· Maintain accurate records of tutoring sessions and student progress.
· Participate in meetings with faculty and academic support teams.
· Stay updated on industry advancements and changes in mechanical engineering education.

To be successful in this role you will have:
· A relevant trade qualification or higher in General Mechanical Engineering, with expertise in areas such as fabrication, machining, fitting, and welding.
· A commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment, ensuring all students are supported in their educational journey.
· Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles and applications.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
· Ability to explain complex concepts in a clear, accessible manner.
· Organisational skills to manage tutoring sessions and track student progress.
· Patience and adaptability to accommodate different learning styles.
· Problem-solving ability and attention to detail.
· Commitment to promoting academic excellence and student success.
Preferred:
· Prior experience in tutoring, teaching, or mentoring.
· Familiarity with engineering software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, MATLAB).
Working Conditions:
· Flexible scheduling, including evening or weekend availability if required.
· Hybrid or in-person work environment based on institutional needs.
