  • Use modern digital tools to plan and execute safe vessel movements
  • Work as part of a tight, professional pilot group known for high standards, teamwork, and reliability
  • Represent Napier Port in interactions with masters, agents, harbour control and operational teams.

What You Bring

To be successful in this role, you will need:

Essential:

  • Current Master Unlimited (Class 1)

  • Sharp decision‑making and disciplined execution
  • High personal standards in organisation, time‑keeping and safety leadership
  • A high level of capability in leading and developing personnel across the wider Marine team.

This is not an entry‑level role. It is suited to those who know they can perform and want to operate in an environment where that performance is visible.

Why Napier Port?

When you join Napier Port, you join a Marine Team that values professionalism, skill, and continual improvement. You’ll work in a port where

  • Our pilotage challenges you - the harbour, vessel mix and weather patterns keep you sharp

  • Your decisions matter - every movement contributes to a critical regional supply chain
  • Including great lifestyle opportunities - Hawke’s Bay offers coastline, community, culture and a short commute
