It’s exciting times for our Nelson Marine Precinct, Port Nelson’s $20m redevelopment of the Nelson Slipway and with a new Cimolai travel lift will result in a modern marine maintenance facility.

Reporting to the Slip Master, this permanent full-time role will be responsible for providing assistance at both our slipways, to support the running of it in a safe, effective and efficient manner. No two days will be the same. Responsibilities range from maintenance, block work and generally supporting the Slip Master, to processing purchases and invoices. 

The ideal candidates will have:

  • Marine background with a mechanical interest 
  • Physically fit and have a genuine commitment to health and safety;
  • A strong appetite to upskill and develop;
  • A can-do attitude with solid planning skills to ensure efficient operations and compliance
  • Effective communication skills with both internal and external customers
  • Ability to work effectively in a team or alone
  • A related trade qualification is preferred, but not essential, demonstrated experience is also acceptable.
