We currently have an opportunity for a Manufacturing Supervisor to join our Stabicraft alloy boat building business in Invercargill on our day shift, which runs from 6.30am to 3.00pm, Monday to Friday.

Reporting to the Production Manager, this role is responsible for a team of 12 working across the routing and pressing areas of the factory. Your role covers the full team which operates two shifts.

If you have experience in welding or boat building that’s great, but it’s not essential as full training and support will be provided. We’re looking for a leader who enjoys taking responsibility, works well with people and is passionate about developing a cohesive team and creating a fantastic high-quality product efficiently. 

Taking ownership of the team, you will need to deliver on the following areas:

  • Prioritise the daily workload to meet the production schedule
  • Understand the production schedule, how your team are delivering on this, recognising when to escalate production issues you can’t resolve
  • Manage attendance and performance, undertaking reviews as required
  • Train and coach your team, providing regular constructive feedback to get the best from them
  • Ensure training plans are in place, and standard operating procedures are correct and up to date
  • Ensure quality standards are maintained and improved 
  • Work with apprentices to ensure they are meeting their study and practical requirements, signing off practical work as required
  • Be prepared and able to accurately report on the teams’ progress at daily meetings, identifying any potential issues ahead of time.
  • Actively participate in developing and maintaining a positive culture
  • Work collaboratively with other teams and roles within the business to ensure the best outcome for Stabicraft as a whole

Skills you will bring to the table:

  • A good understanding of, and commitment to health, safety and quality
  • Proven leadership ability, or a desire to take the next step in your career into a leadership role
  • Highly organised and able to make decisions to ensure the smooth running of your team
  • The ability to clearly communicate and collaborate with people
