The Avenal Homestead complex also known as "The Ave and “The Homestead”" is a vibrant local Tavern and family restaurant. Alongside this bustling tavern and separate family-friendly restaurant, we have a dedicated function space, as well as Gaming and T.A.B. facilities—truly offering something for everyone. Following a refurbishment in 2019, The Avenal Homestead combines modern amenities with a welcoming atmosphere, making it the ultimate all-in-one destination

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Manager to lead our team and oversee the smooth operation of the complex. Working closely with our leadership team, you will play a key role in driving profitability, creating a vibrant and engaging environment, and ensuring every guest enjoys outstanding service.

The Invercargill Licensing Trust (ILT) is a community owned organisation that operates 23 high quality hospitality businesses including hotels, motels, bars, and restaurants through to retail bottle stores as well as two distribution centres. All profits go back to the community of Invercargill, we also provide employment to approximately 700 people. 

Skill required:

  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire a diverse team.  
  • Extensive experience within the hospitality sector.
  • Possess outstanding customer service skills.
  •  Proficient in communication, both verbal and written.
  • Solid understanding of financial management, including budgeting and cost control.
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills.
  • Food and beverage knowledge, including menu and bar management.
  • Operational efficiency and inventory management.
  • Knowledge of health, safety, and licensing compliance.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment. 
  • Passion for hospitality and a commitment to delivering exceptional experiences for guests.
  • Ability to think on your feet, address issues as they arise, and find solutions quickly. 
  • Keen observer of industry trends and competitor activity, identifying opportunities for innovation and improvement within the business. 
  • Committed to fostering a positive and inclusive work culture, providing training, coaching, and support to staff members to enhance their skills and performance.
