About the Service - Mana Ake – Stronger for Tomorrow
Mana Ake is a successful, fun, innovative programme that focuses on teaching tamariki skills and strategies to cope with change, manage their emotions and build positive relationships. It is an early intervention strategy in schools focused on improving the mental health and wellbeing of tamariki ensuring they remain engaged and achieving at school.
We deliver individual, group, whole class and school wellbeing programmes and interventions at primary and intermediate schools across Hastings and Central Hawke’s Bay.

About the Role
Working alongside the rest of the Mana Ake team, this role provides clinical oversight of the programme and works one on one with those tamariki and whānau who need extra, individual, intensive support. You will develop positive working relationships with school staff and other agencies to help identify those tamariki who need additional support and work collaboratively with those agencies to provide wrap around support to the whole whānau. This role is full time Monday to Friday 8.30am to 5.00pm. It is Fixed Term till August 2027 as parental leave cover.
About the Person
· The applicant must be fully registered under the Health Practitioner Competence Assurance (HPAC) Act 2003 with a scope of practice that is appropriate to working as a Mental Health clinician e.g. Counsellor, Social Worker or Nurse.
· Commitment to our organisational values and kaupapa
· An understanding of Te Reo and tikanga Māori
· Passionate about working with tamariki with a warm, engaging, calm personality
· Experience presenting information and providing support to tamariki
· Knowledge of our Hawke’s Bay community and local schools in Hastings and CHB
· Hold a Full Driver’s Licence
