About the role

This role will be a combination of maintaining routines and maintenance schedules as well as dealing with specific projects or tasks on a more ad hoc basis. Typical day to days maintenance and gardening tasks will include:

  • Ensure all storage areas are clean, secure and tidy and that all equipment used is kept in safe operating condition.
  • Ensure equipment and chemicals are used in accordance with H&S guidelines and processes and ensure the use of PPE as appropriate. Maintain the supplies of PPE for maintenance purposes, such as googles, masks, gloves etc
  • Ensure regular and on-going maintenance of facility motor vehicles, including internal and external cleanliness
  • Transport clients to and from day activities, and keep an accurate mileage log
  • Check driving proficiency of staff members using the facility vans, provide instruction where necessary.
  • Contact appropriate specialist services for maintenance or gardening in consultation with the Home Manager.
  • Implement maintenance and gardening as per the monthly and annual work schedules
  • Maintain records of equipment and stocks and order as appropriate
  • Ensure all storage, equipment and tasks are carried out with due consideration for H&S risks/hazards and take the appropriate measures to ensure they are performed safely. 
  • Be actively involved in monitoring H&S hazards within the home.
  • Provide a friendly, safe and homely environment for all residents and staff in the home.
  • Undertake specific maintenance and gardening projects as required, which may call for some flexibility around working hours
