Maintenance Engineer
Sunfruit is a multi-generational, Kiwi-owned, medium family business and we pride ourselves on being small enough to be personal and large enough to be professional. We are a well-established grower, packer and shipper of pipfruit and stonefruit. Our fruit is mainly seen in Woolworth stores year-round and we also export all over the world under our own brand called Pickmee Fresh Ltd.
We have Orchards in Hamilton and Hastings, our Packhouse is based in Hastings, Hawkes Bay.
We are looking for a motivated and skilled Maintenance Engineer to join our Team at our state-of-the-art facility and be able to hit the ground running therefore relevant machinery experience is essential. This is a hands on role.
The Maintenance Engineer’s role is to contribute to company growth by supporting and participating in the implementation and execution of the packhouse asset maintenance programme aimed to eliminate unplanned stops and optimize maintenance cost as well as increase asset intensity.
The successful applicant will possess the following skills and attributes:
- Relevant Trades Qualifications
- Will provide high quality maintenance and repairs to equipment throughout the plant, with a strong emphasis on preventative maintenance, to achieve acceptable production levels and a high standard in engineering support.
- Ensure all breakdowns are fixed promptly and effectively to keep Production going.
- Good knowledge of sound engineering principals, repairs and maintenance.
- The ability to work flexible hours to suit the seasonal fluctuations plus on call if and when required.
- An ability to analyse problems and implement effective solutions in a timely manner and communicate this with those around you.
- Be self-motivated and capable of working independently within a tight Production Team.
- Organised, with the ability to plan and prioritise workload in a sometimes challenging engineering environment.
- An interest in the Horticulture Industry would be an advantage.
- Basic computer documentation skills in Word, Excel etc
- The ability to work lawfully in New Zealand.
