Founded in 1955, Calder Stewart are a privately owned and operated building company, specialising in Design and Build services to the industrial, commercial, rural and public sectors throughout New Zealand.  With our headquarters in Milton and a team of over 400 employees nationwide, our services and capabilities include custom design and build plus the manufacturing of steel, precast concrete and reinforcing. 

About the Role

We are looking for a highly competent and experienced logistics coordinator to be based in Milton, Otago.  You will be involved in managing distribution operations for our Construction and Manufacturing Teams that are located in the South Island. 

Reporting to our Plant and Logistics Manager, you will manage a small team.  The role includes ongoing coordination with our Construction and Manufacturing Teams to ensure materials and equipment are delivered safely to site on time.  You will organise and help manage our fleet of line haul vehicles and have a hands on understanding of all aspect of distribution loading and scheduling, logistics reporting, and freight tracking.

We are looking for the following skills and attributes: 

  • Extensive experience in distribution management and logistics, and a high level of safety awareness 
  • An in-depth understanding of all NZTA regulations and loading codes 
  • Previous experience with the transportation of precast or structural steel cartage is preferred but not essential as training will be provided.  Knowledge of the construction industry is highly desirable 
  • Proven team leadership, organisational and time management skills, and the ability to prioritise work effectively 
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to communicate with a wide range of people 
  • Proficient user of software systems, such as; Outlook, Microsoft Excel, SharePoint, together with an interest in further developing your computer skills
