Lumber & Wood

As we celebrate 90 years of operation, Niagara Sawmilling continues to grow as a trusted and respected name in New Zealand’s timber industry. We produce superior radiata pine and timber products for national and international markets. With nearly a century of innovation, craftsmanship, and commitment behind us, we are proud to be attracting skilled and passionate individuals who share our values and vision for the future.

We are currently looking for a reliable and experienced individual to join our nightshift team in a multi-skilled support role, covering loader, forklift, kilns, and CCA treatment plant duties across both our drymill and sawmill operations.

About the Role:

This is a key support position working autonomously across a range of duties.
The role involves:

  • Operating loaders and forklifts to support production and yard movements
  • Providing cover for our kiln drying and CCA treatment operations as required
  • Working closely with our nightshift teams to ensure smooth operations
  • Maintaining safety, accuracy, and communication in a fast-paced environment

While experience in kilns or timber treatment is an advantage, it’s not essential—we are happy to train the right candidate who brings the right attitude and proven operational experience.

 What We Are Looking For:

  • Proven experience operating forklifts and loaders (current licences essential)
  • Confidence working autonomously and using initiative
  • Good level of physical fitness and comfort with outdoor work
  • Strong communication skills and a team-oriented approach
  • Flexibility and adaptability to shift between roles as needed
  • Reliability and a strong commitment to workplace safety

This position is primarily Monday–Thursday nights, base hours are 6pm to 4:30am with overtime available and requests for overtime are often able to be accommodated.
We understand that not everyone thrives under the same schedule, and we are open to tailoring shifts to suit the right person.

What We Offer:

  • A stable and rewarding nightshift opportunity
  • Competitive remuneration relative to your experience and the responsibilities of the role (overtime rates).
  • A supportive team culture and excellent facilities
  • Opportunities to grow with a well-established and forward-thinking company
