Lecturer in Social Work

We are seeking a Lecturer in Social Work to join our team at the Hawke’s Bay campus. This permanent part-time 0.6 FTE position will contribute to the Bachelor of Social Work and Bachelor of Social Work (Honours) programmes, as well as other courses within the School of Education and Social Sciences. The role involves teaching, curriculum development, student support, and research.
The appointing salary will be negotiable, commensurate with skills and relevant experience.
Key responsibilities include:
- Preparing and updating curriculum and course materials.
- Facilitating student learning through innovative teaching strategies, including blended and online delivery.
- Supporting student well-being and liaising with support services.
- Undertaking assessment, moderation, and maintaining accurate student records.
- Engaging in research and professional development.

To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Current registration as a Social Worker (essential).
- Recent experience in social work practice and knowledge of current modalities.
- A Master’s level qualification (essential).
- Well-developed oral, written, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to teach in both face-to-face and online environments.
- Experience in tertiary teaching and curriculum development (highly desirable).
- Commitment to culturally responsive practice and appreciation of Māori language and culture.
