Mō Tēnei Tūranga Mahi | About the Role

The Lecturer in Social Work Hawke's Bay and/or Tairāwhiti is a fixed-term full time role to teach in the Bachelor of Social Work and Bachelor of Social Work (Honours) programmes, as well as other courses within the School of Education and Social Sciences. This role also involves engaging in research and contributing to academic excellence.

The appointing salary for this role will be between $84,793 and $89,639, dependent on skills and experience.

The Lecturer is based in our Te Kura Kaupapa, Mātauranga, Pāpori me te Whare Tiaki Kararehe team at the Hawke's Bay and/or Tairāwhiti Campus, reporting to the Head of School, and will be responsible for:

  • Designing and delivering curriculum aligned with Academic Board requirements.
  • Facilitating student learning using innovative, flexible, and culturally responsive teaching strategies.
  • Undertaking assessment, evaluation, and moderation processes.
  • Contributing to research and scholarly activities that meet PBRF requirements.
  • Supporting student wellbeing and liaising with student support services.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Recent experience in the practice of social work (essential).
  • Current registration as a Social Worker (essential).
  • A Master’s level qualification (essential).
  • Well-developed oral, written, interpersonal, and organisational skills (essential).
  • Teaching experience at tertiary level and knowledge of curriculum development (highly desirable).
  • Experience with blended/flexible delivery modes and educational technologies (highly desirable).
  • Current membership of ANZASW (highly desirable).
