Lecturer in Early Childhood Education
Mō Tēnei Tūranga Mahi | About the Role
The Lecturer in Early Childhood Education is a part time 0.6 FTE permanent role in Tairāwhiti that will design, develop, and teach Bachelor of Early Childhood Education courses and other programmes within the School of Education and Social Science. This role also involves engaging in research and contributing to academic excellence.
The appointing salary for this role will be between $84,793 and $89,639, dependent on skills and experience.
The Lecturer is based in our Education, Social Sciences & Veterinary Nursing team at the Tairāwhiti Campus, reporting to the Head of School, Education, Social Sciences & Veterinary Nursing, and will be responsible for:
- Designing and delivering curriculum aligned with Academic Board requirements.
- Facilitating student learning using innovative, flexible, and culturally responsive teaching strategies.
- Undertaking assessment, evaluation, and moderation processes.
- Contributing to research and scholarly activities.
- Supporting student wellbeing and liaising with student support services.

To be successful in this role you will have:
- Recent Early Childhood Education workplace experience and a current full Teaching Council practising certificate (essential).
- A Master’s degree or higher qualification (essential).
- Well-developed oral, written, interpersonal, and organisational skills (essential).
- Teaching experience at tertiary level and knowledge of curriculum development (highly desirable).
- Experience with blended/flexible delivery modes and educational technologies (highly desirable).
