Mō Tēnei Tūranga Mahi | About the Role

The Lecturer in Creative Practice (Music) is a permanent, part-time (0.8 FTE) role based in Hawke’s Bay that plays a key role in delivering high-quality teaching and learning within IDEAschool at EIT. The position supports the success of ākonga through engaging music education, contributes to curriculum development, and fosters strong connections with industry and the wider academic team.

The appointing salary for this role will be between $77,000 and $90,000 dependent on skills and experience.
The Lecturer in Creative Practice (Music) is based in IDEAschool, EIT, reporting to the Head of School and will be responsible for:

  • Delivering teaching (lectures, tutorials, and technical instruction) to Level 3–7 music students at IDEAschool Hawke’s Bay
  • Contributing to curriculum design, development, and evaluation within music programmes
  • Assessing student performance and providing constructive feedback
  • Supporting student learning, engagement, and wellbeing
  • Maintaining professional and industry connections to support programme relevance

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Extensive experience in teaching music to degree level
  • Strong knowledge and experience in music technology with industry relevance
  • Well-developed oral, written, interpersonal, and organisational skills
  • Proven ability to plan, deliver, and evaluate effective teaching and learning
  • A relevant qualification to Master’s level
