UCOL’s Automotive and Mechanical portfolio has an exciting opportunity available for a motivated, passionate and suitably qualified welding professional who wishes to move into the world of teaching. This is a full-time, permanent position (40 hours per week) based at our Manawatū Campus in Palmerston North. The successful candidate will have current skills, knowledge and ideally a minimum of 5 (five) years industry experience to deliver welding and Health & safety within our engineering programmes. Including our hobby Night Class Welding
This position will require you to be hands on, facilitating one on one learning, mentoring and motivating students, leading workshops and working with students individually, so your well-tuned rapport building and communication skills will be required. As well as working with a dynamic team you will have the full support of the Academic Portfolio Manager with all delivery resources and practical assessments fully developed.
You will have diverse skills including a relevant engineering qualification along with extensive industry experience in MIG, TIG, MMAW, thermal cutting and working with a variety of carbon steels, stainless and aluminium. Experience delivering at the tertiary level and/or extensive experience industry, ideally including training and supporting apprentices would be beneficial.
It would also be a strong advantage if you also held the NZ Certificate in Adult Literacy & Numeracy Education (NZCALNE), the NZ Certificate in Adult Tertiary Teaching (NZCAT) or equivalent and unit 4098 workbased assessor, however these are not a requirement.
