If you have an interest in supporting students to enter the hairdressing industry, UCOL’s Wairarapa Campus has an exciting opportunity available for a motivated and passionate Hairdressing Lecturer, fixed-term, part-time position (12 hours per week, Wednesdays and Thursdays until 11 December 2026). The successful candidate will have current skills, knowledge and ideally 3 to 5 years current industry experience to support delivery of our NZ Certificate in Hairdressing L3.
This position, based in Masterton will require you to be hands on, facilitating one on one learning, mentoring and motivating students, and working with students individually, so your well-tuned rapport and communication skills will be required. As well as working with a dynamic team you will have the full support of the Academic Portfolio Manager.

Applicants for this position must have NZ residency or a valid NZ work visa and will be required to undergo pre-employment checks; including completing New Zealand Police Vetting as part of the Children's Act 2014 for this safety sensitive role.
· A minimum of 5 years practice in the industry and specialist qualifications which may include:
· National Certificate in Hairdressing (Professional Stylist)
· A Trade Certificate in Hairdressing or equivalent
· A qualification in advance of these;
· You should also be credited with the workplace assessor unit standards 4098 and 11552
· An Adult Tertiary Teaching qualification and/or the NZ Certificate in Adult Literacy and Numeracy Education or be working towards these
· Experience delivering at the tertiary level and/or industry experience, ideally including training and supporting apprentices.
