As part of our ongoing commitment to inspiring students and communities to succeed UCOL’s is seeking a highly motivated lecturer, or suitably qualified professional to support delivery of our NZC in Mechanical Engineering L3 programmes to an additional NZDF intake.
This is a fixed-term position, 40 hours/week that ends May 2026. The successful candidate will be a qualified engineer general machinist with welding experience with a minimum of Trade Certificate, Advanced Trade Certificate or NZ Certification at level 4 or equivalent qualification and ideally five (5) years current industry experience. It would be a strong advantage if you also held the NZ Certificate in Adult Literacy & Numeracy Education (NZCALNE), the NZ Certificate in Adult Tertiary Teaching (NZCAT) or equivalent and unit 4098 workbased assessor, however these are not a requirement.
This position, based at UCOL’s Manawatū Campus in Palmerston North, will require you to be hands on, facilitating one on one learning, mentoring, motivating and working with students individually, so your well-tuned rapport and communication skills will be required. As well as working with a dynamic team you will have the full support of the Academic Portfolio Manager with all delivery resources and practical assessments fully developed.

Applicants for this position must have NZ residency or a valid NZ work visa and will be required to complete New Zealand Police Vetting as part of the Children's Act 2014.
· Relevant industry qualification (e.g. Trade Certificate, Advanced Trade Certificate or NZ Certification at level 4) or equivalent
· Experience delivering at the tertiary level and/or industry experience (ideally 5 years); with training and supporting apprentices an advantage.
· An Adult Tertiary Teaching qualification and/or the NZ Certificate in Adult Literacy and Numeracy Education and/or unit 4098 workbased assessor or be working toward these is desirable.
