 Are you the person we are looking for who can naturally connect and engage with students who are new to tertiary study? If you have a passion for café skills then this could be the position for you.

If you have an interest in supporting students to enter the cafe industry, UCOL’s Whanganui Campus has an exciting opportunity available for a motivated and passionate Café Skills Lecturer, fixed-term (ends October 2026), part-time position (8 hours per week) to deliver our U-Skills (Trades Academy) café skills programme.

It is expected candidates will have relevant industry qualifications in Cookery, Front of House and Barista plus a minimum of five (5) years industry experience. While not required, experience delivering at the tertiary level plus an Adult Teaching qualification and/or the NC in Adult Literacy and Numeracy Education or be working toward these would be an advantage.

This position, based on our Whanganui Campus, will require you to be hands on, facilitating one on one learning, mentoring and motivating students, and working with students individually, so your well-tuned rapport and communication skills will be required. As well as working with a dynamic team you will have the full support of the Academic Portfolio Manager.

Skills & Experience

  

· Relevant industry qualifications in Cookery, Front of House and Barista and ideally a minimum  of five years current industry experience

· An Adult Tertiary Teaching qualification and/or the NZ Certificate  in Adult Literacy and Numeracy Education and/or unit 4098 workbased assessor or be working toward these

· Experience delivering at the tertiary level and/or extensive experience industry.
