The Early Childhood Team from the School of Education at UCOL Ltd has an exciting opportunity available for a full-time permanent Lecturer - Early Childhood Education and Care teaching on the Whanganui campus. This role would suit a passionate individual keen to strengthen the raw talents of students enrolled in the Early Childhood Education and Care Programmes on the Whanganui Campus. 

As a member of UCOL's Early Childhood Team you will have the ability to inspire others to pursue and achieve their dreams by offering them quality teaching, mentoring and motivation. You will engage, support and motivate the students to achieve their qualification, the first step to achieving their dream. This position requires you to be hands on, facilitating one on one learning, mentoring and motivating students, leading workshops and working with students individually, so your well-tuned rapport building and communication skills will be required. 

Qualifications and skills we are looking for:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Teaching
  • Experience teaching in an early childhood setting
  • Experience in teaching Early Childhood Education and Care programmes 
  • An adult teaching qualification (e.g. NZCATT) and a literacy/numeracy qualification (e.g. NZCALNE) would be preferred
  • Strong understanding of Māori and/or Pasifika culture
  • An interest in research led teaching
  • High emotional intelligence 
  • Team player
