Mō te tūraka mahi | About the role
As a Lecturer your role will be to design and deliver content in blended learning styles to ākonga enrolled in the Certificate of Bicultural Competency.
Based within the College of Community Development and Personal Welbeing, the Certificate in Bicultural Competency (Level 4) provides practical knowledge of te reo and tikanga Māori as appropriate within the workplace, and Te Tiriti o Waitangi and its impact within iwi and location-specific contexts in Aotearoa. You will assist learners to develop their understanding of their own position in a bi-cultural New Zealand context by building a base to develop their cultural competency skills.

Key to your success in this role will be your ability to lead by example and share your knowledge, passion and experience with ākonga who are seeking to expand their understanding, competency and practice in Te Ao / Mātauranga Māori.
We are looking for an experienced practitioner who has a relevant tertiary qualification and considerable practice experience in Te Ao Māori. You will have a sound understanding of tikanga and te reo. Your mahi will use a range of approaches to ensure ākonga are engaged with their learning, creating outstanding learning experiences. You will be responsible for the delivery of specific courses along with marking and associated pastoral care.
To perform effectively in this role, you will have:
· Experience of working with adult learners
· Good computer literacy and the ability to use full suite of Microsoft products (particularly Word and Teams)
· A current driver’s licence
· Commitment to and understanding of responsibilities under Te Tiriti o Waitangi
· Experience of facilitating learning and positive growth in others
Teaching experience at tertiary level, and a teaching qualification would be an advantage.
