Mō Tēnei Tūranga Mahi | About the Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a permanent, part time 0.6 FTE (22.5 hours per week) Learning Support Advisor, located at our EIT| Te Pūkenga business division in Hawkes Bay.

This position reports to the Manager, Learner Support Services – Pouārahi Ākonga, and will be responsible for providing academic learning advice and study support to students, with a focus on Māori students and te reo Māori programmes, through:

  • Providing academic learning support to students in their assigned focus group to enhance opportunities for success in tertiary study 
  • Developing resources that take best advantage of technologies to support student learning. 
  • Working with the cultural and disability teams to develop and foster a holistic and multi-disciplinary approach to meeting student needs. 
  • Assisting teaching staff to create equitable learning opportunities that are student focused. 
  • Contributing to the development and implementation of a strategy for Māori student support. 

He kōrero mōu| About you

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification at degree level is essential.
  • A relevant postgraduate qualification (such as teaching) is desirable.
  • Experience in working with Māori students in tertiary education. 
  • Knowledge and use of te reo Māori and tikanga Māori is essential
